List of video game collector and limited editions

Computer and video game collector and limited editions (commonly referred to as CE and LE's) are video games packaged with bonus materials and enhancements not available in the standard release. Such bonuses can range from special packaging to printed artwork to extra discs containing additional content. These versions are typically of a predetermined limited release and act as promotional tools for the publisher, and items of value for collectors.

Not all titles released as a "Special/Collector's/Etc. Edition" are necessarily in any substantial way superior to the standard edition. True Collector's and Limited Editions are those released with extra materials or content, that were limited in every case. For example, most Game of the Year, Gold, or Platinum editions are re-releases and rarely contain anything of extra value nor are of particular limited release, and thus are not generally considered Collector's or Limited Editions.

• BioShock Limited Edition (PC/X360) — special box with embossed fan-contest winning art, Big Daddy figurine, 3-track EP Soundtrack CD, and behind-the-scenes DVD. In Europe, the game and bonus discs are held in a metal case.
• BioShock2 Limited Edition (PS3/X360) — The BioShock 2 Special Edition brings with it a host of memorabilia associated with the underwater city of Rapture. The package's extra expense brings with it three advertisement posters mocked up with the same art aesthetic as seen in the game, a vinyl 180g LP of the highly acclaimed original BioShock soundtrack, a CD with BioShock 2's musical score, and a 164 page 8"x11" hardcover art book.
• Blazblue: Calamity Trigger Limited Edition (PS3/X360) - the United States version includes game, Tutorial on Blu-Ray Disc, exclusive 100 page artbook & exclusive presentation box packaging, while the European version included the Tutorial on DVD but did not include the artbook. The Australian releases did not include the Tutorial or the Artbook, but instead include an Arcade Stick (PS3 only), and two controller faceplates (X360 only) showcasing artwork by the game's designers.
• Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway Limited Edition (PC/PS3/X360) — a 6 inch Sergeant Matt Baker figure with 13 accessories, a blister pack holding the figurine and accessories, a 32-page Brothers In Arms First Edition Comic book, a full color map of Operation Market Garden, special packaging and 2 more playable multiplayer characters.
• Call of Duty 2: Big Red One Collector's Edition (PS2/Xbox) — a bonus DVD with interviews, motion capture and voice recording footage, and more behind the scenes featurettes; four exclusive multiplayer character skins.
• Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare Collector's Edition (PC/X360) — both the game in its regular case and a hardcover book featuring exclusive concepts, never-before-seen imagery and final artwork are held in a cardboard box with a foil-embossed cover. The Xbox 360 version includes a bonus disc with 'making of' documentaries, trailers, a walkthrough of the first level, and seven BBC documentaries detailing the birth of the British SAS. Instead of the bonus disc, PC owners receive a digital copy of the BradyGAMES Official Strategy Guide.
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Hardened Edition (PS3/X360) — Steel book with metallic finish, artbook, token to download the original Call of Duty.
• Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition (PS3/X360) — Steel book with metallic finish, artbook, token to download the original Call of Duty, Night Vision Goggles, collector's stand to hold your goggles.
• Call of Duty: World at War Limited Collector's Edition (PC/X360) — A tin case, a "day one edge," which is the early unlock of the level 45 FG-42, a week of double experience points in multiplayer, the date of which is yet to be announced, a coloured clan tag for Xbox 360 players, and a stainless steel canteen with the Call of Duty emblem on it.
• Castlevania: Lords of Shadow Limited Edition (PS3/X360) - A special case with new and indented cover art, a 20 track soundtrack CD and an art book.
• Dead Rising 2 Zombrex Edition - Steelbook packaging with Making of DVD & Zombrex syringe pen.
• Dead Rising 2 Outbreak Edition (PS3/X360) - Game exclusive, includes making of DVD, Sports fan theme pack, Tape it or die booklet & 12" Zombie figurine.
• Devil May Cry 4 Collector's Edition (PS3/X360) — includes volume 1 of ADV Films' Devil May Cry: The Animated Series (eng dub), a Steel book case and a bonus DVD filled with extras.

It comes with a bust of Duke, a 100-page book entitled The History, Legacy and Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art From the Vault, a series of postcards showing off a few of Duke's many accomplishments, a radioactive emblem sticker, a DNF comic book, DNF foldable paper craft, DNF poker chips, a deck of DNF playing cards and DNF radioactive emblem dice, all stuffed into a huge DNF box and accompanied by a numbered certificate of limited-edition DNF authenticity.
• The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Collector's Edition (PC/X360) — bonus 2nd DVD featuring a behind-the-scenes documentary, concept art, a Septims replica coin, and a 112 page "Pocket Guide to the Empire" with historical information, important figure profiles, and other realistically rendered details about The Elder Scrolls saga. Considered one of "the top ten console limited/special editions as tracked by The NPD Group through November 2007."
• Fallout 3 Collector's Edition (PC/PS3/X360) — game disc, manual, a bonus "making of" DVD, a concept artbook, and a 5" Vault Boy Bobblehead, all of which is contained in a Vault-Tec lunchbox.
• Fallout 3 Survival Edition (PC/PS3/X360) — Amazon.com exclusive. includes everything from the Collector's Edition, as well as a model of the PIP-Boy 3000 from the game which functions as a digital clock.
• Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition (PC/PS3/X360) — Comes packaged in a faux leather slip case box and includes the game, the coveted Lucky 38 platinum chip, 'Lucky 7' poker chips representing the 7 in-game casinos, a deck of cards each depicting a different character, The Making of: DVD, and the hardcover graphic novel: All Roads which explains the events leading up to Fallout: New Vegas.
• Far Cry 2 GameStop Pre-Order Edition (PC/PS3/X360) — Three extra hours of gameplay, a fold-out map, and exclusive packaging.
• Far Cry 2 Collector's Edition (PC/PS3)X360)— Exclusive wooden box, containing a limited edition Far Cry 2 T-shirt, The Art of Far Cry 2 Art book, Collector 50 km² map, Making-of DVD and a copy of Far Cry 2.
• Final Fantasy XIII Collector's Edition (PS3/X360) - EU only. Comes packaged with limited soundtrack CD with selected tracks by composer Masashi Hamauzu, Hardback art book containing concept and final art for the game, 3 collective art prints depicting Eidolons, Unique 'Brand of the l'Cie' decal stickers, all packaged in a flip top packaging .
• Grand Theft Auto IV Special Edition (PS3/X360) — metal safe deposit box, Rockstar Games keychain, duffel bag, Art of Grand Theft Auto IV book and The Music of Grand Theft Auto IV soundtrack.
• The Godfather: The Game Limited Edition (PS2/Xbox) — bonus interviews and special featurettes, including behind-the-scenes videos with stars James Caan and Robert Duvall, making of the game footage, a documentary on the cultural impact of The Godfather and a video walkthrough to help players through the game.
• Kiss: Psycho Circus: The Nightmare Child Collector's Edition (DC/PC) — a KISS poster signed by all of the band members, a mini-strategy guide, a special CD, artwork autographed by the Third Law development team, and a reprint of an official backstage pass from the Psycho Circus tour.
• Madden NFL 07 Hall of Fame Edition (PS2/X360) — Includes a bonus disc. The content will be different depending on whether you get the PS2 version or the Xbox 360 version: PS2 owners get a behind the scenes look at the PlayStation 3 version of Madden NFL 07, whereas Xbox 360 owners get every episode of "Madden Nation". • Need for Speed: Carbon Collector's Edition (PC/PS2/X360) — three new cars, six new races, ten specially tuned cars, ten vinyl kits and behind-the-scenes bonus DVD. Considered one of "the top ten console limited/special editions as tracked by The NPD Group through November 2007."

• Quantum of Solace Collector's Edition (PS3/X360) — gold tin (which says 007 on it the name and other stuff is on a slip) the Xbox 360 had a 2nd disk and the ps3 had ingame content.
• Robotech: Battlecry Collector's Edition (GCN/PS2/Xbox) — individually numbered box, game soundtrack, t-shirt, five art cards, lenticular motion card, and Robotech Defense Force dog tag.
• Saints Row 2 Collector's Edition (PC/X360/PS3) — Comes with the game, some posters, a 1GB USB stick in the shape of a bullet and some kind of gun in gold-plate.

• Tekken 6 Limited Edition/Collector's Edition (PS3/X360) - Tekken 6 game which comes with a few special Tekken items which are the white Xbox 360 Tekken 6 hoody/sweatshirt or the black PS3 Tekken 6 hoody/sweatshirt and the Tekken 6 Art Book and also a big size Tekken 6 poster of Lars Alexandersson. Limited Edition is the European name of this version and Collector's Edition is the American/Asian name for this.

• Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Vegas 2 Limited Edition (PS3/360) — Contains a bonus disc containing a video strategy guide, highlights from '07 MLG Pro Circuit, a sneak peek at Tom Clancy's EndWar, and an exclusive interview with MLG player FinestX. CContains a collectible case with a collectible disc and Rainbow Six Vegas 2 branded poker chip.
• Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Collector's Edition (GCN/PC/PS2/Xbox) — metallic embossed collector's DVD case, on a second disc a "making of" feature and development diaries, an art gallery, a Penny Arcade spy training manual, and other video features and trailers.

Nintendo 64

• The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask — Earlier copies of the cartridge had a lenticular holographic label; all other copies used a standard printed label. Note that the non Collector's Edition is actually more difficult to find.
• The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time — Earlier copies of the cartridge were gold colored; all other copies used the standard grey N64 cartridge. It also has a metallized print cover with the same art, instead of regular print boxing.

Nintendo DS

• Bakugan: Battle Brawlers Collector's Edition - Includes the game & an exclusive limited edition "brawler" Naga.
• Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks - EU only. embossed metal case with Link and Phantom Zelda figurines.

Nintendo GameCube

• The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition — complete, emulated versions of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda II: The Adventure of Link, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (standard version), and The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask, also The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker demo, and Zelda series retrospective video clips; though merely a collection of re-released games, this title was a limited release only available during the holidays of 2003.
• The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker Limited Edition - the first print run of The Wind Waker in the PAL region included a second disc containing Ocarina of Time and Ocarina of Time Master Quest.
• Mario Kart: Double Dash!! — though not marketed as a special edition, first shipment copies included a 2-disc case with a limited bonus disc.
• Resident Evil 4 GameStop Special Edition — GameStop exclusive containing a red collector's tin, a Resident Evil prologue booklet, and an art cell of Leon S. Kennedy.
