While 'Shalom' is derived from Hebrew, 'Salem' is derived from Arabic and its predecessor, proto-Semitic Ugaritic, which became the foundation for modern Arabic. undo Tag: Reverted

Shalem became Salem, the English transliteration of the Arabic word, spoken uninterrupted since 1st century CE. Mishnaic Hebrew, a dead language from 400 CE until late 1800s, and modern Hebrew transliterate the word as "Shalom" in modern English. As an analogy, this is like saying the word 'academia' comes from Latin, while it originated in ancient Greek. Technically but not thoroughly correct. undo Tag: Reverted
