This is a list of number-one Top 40 Mainstream hits in the United States by year from the Top 40 Mainstream. Every chart is on a week-ending (w/e) format.
The Top 40 Mainstream chart (also being referred to as Pop Songs since June 2009) tracks "the week's hottest pop songs, ranked by mainstream top 40 radio airplay audience impressions as measured by Nielsen BDS."[1]
