(1) Numbered highways are generally state-maintained.
(2) In 2008 the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development began replacing the green-and-white shield. As these signs age, they are being replaced by the same silhouette design, but the new signs have a black background, white silhouette, and black letters and numbers. On the new shield there is no frame outline (currently a green line border, as above). See example in photograph below. |

Louisiana is incrementally converting its state highway shields from a green silhouette on a white background with white print to a while silhouette on a black background with black print. The previous green line border disappears, being replaced by no border, but see the photograph below.

- Interstate 10, south Louisiana's east-west artery, includes cities of New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles.
- Interstate 12, Baton Rouge to Slidell, New Orleans bypass
- Interstate 20, north Louisiana's east-west artery, includes cities of Shreveport and Monroe, Louisiana.
- Interstate 49, Lafayette to Shreveport, expansion of 49 south to New Orleans, replacing part of U.S. Highway 90, and north to Kansas City, Missouri is scheduled.
- Interstate 55
- Interstate 59
- Interstate 110, Baton Rouge downtown spur.
- Interstate 210, Lake Charles east-west loop.
- Interstate 220, Shreveport/Bossier City bypass
- Interstate 310
- Interstate 310 (1964) (cancelled), spur connecting Houma-area to I-10.
- Interstate 410 (1955) (cancelled)
- Interstate 410 (1969) (cancelled)
- Interstate 410 (200?) (proposed), loop around Baton Rouge.

- Interstate 510, spur connecting eastern New Orleans and Chalmette to I-10.
- Interstate 610, New Orleans downtown bypass.
- Interstate 910, only designated by the Federal Highway Administration for the West Bank Expressway, placeholder to become part of future I-49.
