- Canada: 1996 census from Statistics Canada (Note: figures for communities with fewer than fifteen people in 2001 are rounded to the nearest multiple of five to protect confidentiality, and therefore figures from the 2001 census are not accurate). The list does not include Indian reservations, Indian settlements, or other native settlements, nor "Unorganized Areas and Improvement Districts" in Canada, due to the large number of places with fewer than nine people in these categories.
