Live Shit: Binge & Purge is a live box set by the American heavy metal band Metallica, released in 1993. It contained three CDs or Cassette tapes as well as three VHS tapes, while a newer version contains two DVDs from concerts in San Diego on the Wherever We May Roam Tour and Seattle on the Damaged Justice Tour and also includes three CDs with songs from concerts in Mexico City on the Nowhere Else To Roam tour. It was originally released as a cardboard box depicting the style of a typical tour equipment transport box. Besides the audio and video media, the box featured additional bonus material (booklet showing a multitude of photos, typical tour correspondence as sent and received by the band and their management, and internal documents and handwritten notes; a recreated copy of an access pass to the "Snakepit" part of the tour stage; a cardboard drawing/airbrush stencil for the "Scary Guy" logo).

It's been certified 15x Platinum by the RIAA as a long-form video format.

[edit] Trivia

  • Kirk Hammett's guitar solo features partial renditions of Led Zeppelin's "Dazed and Confused," George Thorogood's "One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer," Deep Purple's "Mistreated," Cream's "Crossroads", and Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing", and the theme to Alfred Hitchcock Presents.
  • This was the final time the band used their original logo on an album cover since the release of their 1998 Cover album Garage Inc.
  • The Mexico City and the San Diego concerts feature an 18 minute version of the song Seek & Destroy. In the middle of the song, James stops it to start chanting and walks down to audience members to allow them to sing into the microphone.
  • The August 29,30 1989 Seattle show is considered among many fans to be the best live performance by the band since their existence.
