The Liverpool Overhead Railway Southern Extension tunnel stretches for half a mile from Herculaneum Dock to Dingle railway station, on the Liverpool Overhead Railway. It is now disused, the former station now being a garage.
The tunnel may be unique in that is leads to an underground station on what was an overhead railway. It was not that the line was inclined downward into the ground but it intersected a hill.
