LogiGear Corporation is a software testing and development company headquartered in San Mateo, California, with branches in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, Vietnam. Founded in 1994, LogiGear provides services in software testing, test automation, load/software performance testing, QA consulting, test education/training, software development, and delivery model. The corporation sponsored the first software conference in Vietnam, VistaCon 2010, held in Ho Chi Minh City, with Cem Kaner, noted software usability and testing expert, as the keynote speaker.

History[edit]

In 1994, LogiGear established its headquarters in Foster City, Silicon Valley. The company was founded by Hung Quoc Nguyen and Michael Hackett.[1][2]

Company founder Hung Nguyen, with co-authors Cem Kaner and Jack Falk, published the seminal book, Testing Computer Software, in 1999, on software testing and reliability.[3]

LogiGear expanded in 2005 and set up its outsourcing headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, named LogiGear Vietnam.

In 2008, the headquarters moved from Foster City to San Mateo, California.

San Jose Business Journal ranked LogiGear in the top 70 Fast/Private Valley Companies in 2009.[4]

In 2009, Inc. 500 ranked LogiGear #66 in the San Francisco-Oakland-Fremont, California, category in its annual list of the fastest growing companies in the US.[5]

On March 12, 2011, LogiGear opened its new Research and Training Center in Da Nang, Vietnam.[6]

Action Based Testing and TestArchitect[edit]

In many of its projects, LogiGear follows the Action Based Testing method for keyword-driven test development and automation, which employs the concept of "test modules" as an organizing principle to make test development and automation more efficient and easier to manage and maintain.[7]

To support the Action Based Testing approach, LogiGear offers two products: TestArchitect and TestArchitect for Visual Studio. Of these, TestArchitect is the more general product that provides test development and automation for a wide range of software platforms, while TestArchitect for Visual Studio is specifically designed to work as an extension inside Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and Visual Studio Test Professional.

International presence[edit]

The first software conference held in Vietnam was conducted in 2010, titled VistaCon 2010, and sponsored by LogiGear. Cem Kaner was the keynote speaker.[8][9]
