Camden Hoppa Route C2 began in March 1987 following the withdrawal of route 53 between Parliament Hill Fields and Oxford Circus. The route was initially tendered to London Country North West (LCNW), running between Regent Street via Camden Town to Parliament Hill Fields, using Optare CityPacers minibuses leased from London Regional Transport's Muswell Hill Garage. LCNW surrendered the route in June 1988, with London Buses taking over operation of the route, from Victoria Garage using their leased CityPacers.
The StarRiders moved with the route to Holloway garage, although this was only temporary as Northern Counties Paladin bodied Camden Link route branded Dennis Darts entered service in June. The 1990s saw a brief period where the route was extended northwards via Highgate and Crouch End. Privatisation saw the route being pass with London Northern to MTL London Northern in October, later bought out by Metroline in 1998. The Darts were replaced by Plaxton President bodied Dennis Trident 2 double deckers during 1999.
The C2 was converted into a 24-hour service on 14 April 2007. This was the first time that a normal prefix route gained a night service.
