Twice every year, Lorbeer Middle School holds a "Renaissance Rally" for students with a GPA of 3.0 and above. Before the rally, students receive a T-Shirt with the theme of the rally (such as the Incredible Achievers, which is meant to mimic Disney/Pixar's The Incredibles) Recently they had a "Horton Hears a Who" rally for the 2009 renaissance.

[edit] School Days

School days follow a rotating schedule that is determined by the following rules:

  • Before classes begin, there is an "advisory period" or "period 0" (except on block days).
  • The first class of the day is determined by the day of the week. On Monday, the first class is period 1. On Tuesday, the first class is period 2 and so on.
  • Classes after the first period of the day are consecutively numbered periods. After period 6, the count is reset to one.
  • On Wednesday, there are only classes with odd numbered periods and classes are twice as long. (This is known as a "block day")
  • On Thursday, there are only classes with even numbered periods and classes are also twice as long.
  • Lunch is determined by the student's fourth period. If the class is in the 100's or 200's class rooms, then he/she goes to the second lunch. If the class is in the 300's classrooms or Gym, then he/she goes to the second lunch. If a student is not presently going to lunch, first he/she is to report to advisory period for ssr.
  • On block days, advisory period is after a student's second class of the day or lunch.
  • On block days, which lunch a student goes to is determined by the location of their advisory period. If a student is not presently going to lunch, then he/she is to report to advisory period.
