Lord's Supper
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Lord's Supper may refer to:
- The Last Supper, the last meal Jesus of Nazareth shared with his disciples in the collection of Christian Scriptures called The Holy Bible.
[edit] No Scriptural definition
Paul the Apostle makes a passing mention of this Greek deipnon in his First Epistle to the Corinthians, usually dated to AD 52–57, in its sole Scriptural mention. He reports abuses at meals that the Corinthian Christians had at their meetings which caused him to deem them unworthy to be "a Supper of the Lord" (κυριακὸν δεῖπνον, not τὸ κυριακὸν δεῖπνον, and so, in this context, "the Lord's supper" means "a supper of the Lord" rather than "the supper of the Lord.")
