Los Amates is a municipality in the Izabal department of Guatemala. Their population is about 56,000. Their mayor is currently Marco Tulio Ramirez Estrada.
Los Amates is located on the Motagua River, 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) from the ruins of the ancient Maya city of Quiriguá.
