Lot 16 (pop. 550) is a township in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is part of Richmond Parish. The name "Lot 16" originates with the original survey of Prince Edward Island by Samuel Holland in the 18th century. It is one of the few communities in Prince Edward Island that continues to use its original lot designation in its formal name.
Lot 16 actually comprises three constituent communities: Belmont, Central and Southwest Lot 16. The three communities are of approximately equal population, with Belmont being slightly larger.
Lot 16 is home to two churches: the Belmont United Baptist Church, and the Central Lot 16 United Church of Canada. It also has three cemeteries (Methodist, United, and Baptist). The main public building in the community is the Lot 16 Community Hall, meeting place for community groups such as 4-H, Lot 16 Seniors Club, Women's Institute, and community events.
Lot 16 also is home to the Belmont Provincial Park located at Winchester Cape in Belmont. It is a day-use park jutting out into the bottom of Malpeque Bay.
Agriculture is the main industry in Lot 16, with a large proportion of residents involved in primary agricultural production. The most popular commodities are dairy, beef, potato, and grain production. It is also home to a few small businesses that are primarily machinery related. Belmont Lot 16 is home to one of the top dairy cattle herds in the Maritime provinces.
