Louis R. Cappelli (b. 1951[1]) is a real estate developer most active in Westchester County, New York. Sometimes called "The Donald Trump of Westchester," Cappelli has developed more than four million square feet of mixed use, retail, waterfront, residential, office building, laboratory and parking facilities with a portfolio value exceeding $2 billion. His firm, Cappelli Enterprises, sometimes partners with Trump to market high-rise residential buildings in suburban New York City. Their 35-story Trump Tower in White Plains, New York, is a centerpiece of the City Centre project many credit with creating an urban renaissance in the city. Trump and Cappelli are partnering on another tower -- called Trump Plaza -- in New Rochelle, New York, home of Cappelli's first high-profile project, New Roc City.

Cappelli's father, Luca Cappelli, founded and built the company's predecessor real estate and development businesses from scratch (portions of which were sold to Reckson Properties). Cappelli is married to the actress Kylie Travis. He once put a Journal-News reporter into a headlock when the reporter asked a critical question during an interview. [1]

Cappelli is the largest single stockholder (15.8% in October 2008) in Empire Resorts[2] which operates the Monticello Racetrack which is a racino. Empire is in the process of building a casino on the site of the Concord Resort Hotel (estimated cost between $750 million and $1 billion). Part of the plan calls for the Monticello Racetrack to close and be replaced by the new complex.
