Using the original alignment, LA 3098 meets LA 1230 once more, with LA 1230 crossing to the east along the 1920s alignment of US 165, while LA 3098 uses a 1940's alignment of US 165.
LA 3098 is an undivided, two-lane road for its entire route. Before the 1955 Louisiana Highway renumbering, LA 3098 was known as State Route 14.
The entire highway is in Grant Parish.
