Louisiana Highway 82 (LA 82) is a state highway that serves Cameron and Vermilion parishes in Louisiana. It spans 142.8 miles (229.8 km) and is the primary road in southern Cameron Parish. The area surrounding LA 82 was heavily damaged in Hurricane Rita.

Route description[edit]

LA 82 runs from west to east, beginning at the Louisiana/Texas state line and runs due east through Cameron Parish. LA 82 temporarily merges with LA 27 outside of Cameron and then splits from the highway after exiting the town. Upon entering Vermillion Parish, LA 82 turns slightly north towards Abbeville. LA 82 runs through the city center and then ends at the Lafayette Parish/Vermillion Parish line. As of 2009, some parts of Highway 82 have rough pavement, especially in Vermillion Parish. Motorcycle riders are advised to exercise caution in that area.[citation needed]
