The Louisville and Nashville Passenger Station and Express Building is a historic Louisville and Nashville Railroad depot in Pensacola, Florida. It is located at 239 North Alcaniz Street.[1]
The building was constructed between 1912 and 1913 in the Prairie School architectural style. It is primarily of Spanish Mission design with elements of Italianate.[2][3]
On June 11, 1979, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places.[4]
In 1984, the building was refurbished and incorporated into Pensacola Grand Hotel (now the Crowne Plaza Pensacola Grand Hotel) that was built just behind it. The hotel has housed two Presidents of the United States including President Barack Obama in 2010. The renovation of the building was a painstaking process that involved using as much of the original material as possible. Currently, the building houses the lobby, shops, restaurant and meeting rooms for the hotel. [5][6]
