In his professional career he played for Audax Italiano since 2003 to 2006, later in 2007 in Lota Schwager. On 2008, Marín was signed by Unión Española, where in 2010 was selected for the Chile national football team for play the 2010 FIFA World Cup. After this tournament, in 2011 he signed in O'Higgins and was captain of the team, reaching the final of the Torneo Apertura 2012, losing with Universidad de Chile on the penalty shoot-out, club that in 2013 signed Marín on loan for 2 years, finishing on 2015. 
On 12 May 2010, Marín was named in Chile's provisional 30 man squad for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, before this event, Marín was called to the matches of Chile against Venezuela, Trinidad and Tobago and Mexico, in these matches, he conceded one goal, against Mexico in a result of 1-0 with a goal of Alberto Medina.
