The M3SonicShowdown, started on May 4, 2009, is an indie video event hosted by M3Radio. The event was developed to celebrate and provide exposure for all independent music by giving indie musicians the opportunity to grow as an artist while building a fan base.[1]

M3SonicShowdown events are held every season. Independent artists have the opportunity to enter their videos into the event. All video submissions are posted on M3Radio’s M3SonicShowdown youtube channel. Postings are then viewed, rated, and commented on. The video that receives the most views, based upon YouTube’s independent viewer counter, is deemed the winner of the event and the event prizes.
Some event prizes include free radio and press promotion campaigns. As well as, the winner or the winner’s CD cover will appear on over 25,000,000 banner ads on high traffic social networking web sites across the Internet. Both of which can give a new up and coming artists maximum exposure.

Through the M3SonicShowdown event, all independent musicians will gain exposure not only from the already established M3Radio audience but also the rest of the world at large as well. The M3SonicShowdown also allows indie musicians the opportunity to intermingle with their peers and check out what other independent musicians are doing around the world. In addition, the event’s prizes are intended to benefit indie artist in their career goals.

M3Radio’s M3SonicShowdown has been featured on hotindienews.com, an independent online news resource. Thanks to social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, and Craigslist, The M3SonicShowdown has also caught the attention of independent artists, bands, and labels. Many in the indie music world have expressed their appreciation for this opportunity to showcase their art and view other’s.

Since the medium of the event is video, the M3SonicShowdown event utilizes video infomercials which are posted on various Internet sites that indie artist are most likely to use.
