Puff Daddy (a.k.a. P. Diddy or Sean Combs) was the host for the 2002 Europe Music Awards. Held at Palau Sant Jordi, Barcelona. Puff Daddy confirmed his diva status by demanding backstage necessities such as a bath of milk and a double bed with Egyptian silk sheets. The live audience was the biggest to date with 15,000 music fans in the venue. The awards coincided with the famous Spanish architects Antoni Gaudí's 150th anniversary.

The all-star line-up included a rendition of "Dirrty" from Christina Aguilera featuring Redman as they performed in a boxing ring with Christina sporting leather chaps. Pink, Bon Jovi and Foo Fighters each performed as did Coldplay and Eminem, both making their EMA debut.

Winners on the night included Jennifer Lopez taking Best Female for the second year running and the Free Your Mind award went to FARE’s campaign to keep racism out of football.

Kylie Minogue, Pamela Anderson, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Jade Jagger and Pierce Brosnan all took to the stage to present awards.
