[edit] Places of Interest
The Maasin City Cathedral.
Maasin is home to a shrine to the Virgin Mary. Formally, Our Lady of the Assumption, residents commonly call it the Mother Mary Shrine. Located atop a hill adjacent to the small coastal plain occupied by the city, the shrine is visible for many miles. Access is exclusively by means of a long stairway up the side of the hill. But at this time the Diocesan Shrine canonically established by the Most Rev. Bishop of Maasin is located at the Monte Cueva, Basak, Rizal, Maasin City. It is officially called the Shrine of Our Lady of the Assumption and the Precious Blood of Jesus. At present, it is taken care of by Rev. Fr. Garnette John Quirong and volunteers from Basak.
