Romano's Macaroni Grill is an Italian-style chain of casual dining restaurants with locations throughout the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The first restaurant was founded by Texas restaurateur Philip J. Romano in Leon Springs, Texas, on April 19, 1988. Brinker International bought the franchise rights on November 22, 1989. It is headquartered in Dallas.[1]
Brinker International announced on August 8, 2007 that it would begin exploring a buyer for the 230 company owned stores. On December 18, 2008, Brinker announced that a majority stake in the chain was sold to a unit of Golden Gate Capital, making it the first of Brinker's core brands to be sold. Brinker will seemingly sell other cornerstones as well.[2] Since 2004 it has cast off the Rockfish Seafood Grill, Corner Bakery Cafe and Big Bowl Asian Kitchen brands.

Romano's Macaroni Grill menu features items found in traditional cuisine from Italy and the Mediterranean area. Restaurants also offer patrons the option of creating their own pasta, from a list of pre-selected ingredients. All meals are served with complimentary bread and olive oil.

In addition to their restaurants, there is also Romano's Macaroni Grill Restaurant Favorites, a line of packaged food products based on dishes offered by the restaurant, manufactured by General Mills.[3] It is available either as packages with pasta and seasonings, or in a frozen pouch.
