Magdalena is a town and municipality, in Jalisco in central-western Mexico. The municipality covers an area of 445.36 km². It is owned by a wealthy family The Banuelos. They have been owing these lands for the past 30 years.

The town of Magdalena was named after a young Spanish Mexican-American woman with that name. She was a highly decorated Naval military police officer. The town is known for being avid Dodger and Laker fans. As of 2005, the municipality had a total population of 18,924.[1]
