E. Ahamed defeated his nearest candidate T. K. Hamza of Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) in the 2009 election. In the Lok Sabha Elections 2014, P. K. Saniaba of CPI(M) contests against E. Ahamed of Muslim League.
