Margerie Glacier, 2006

Margerie Glacier is a 21-mile-long (34 km) glacier in Glacier Bay in Alaska. It begins on the south slope of Mount Root, at the Alaska-Canada border, and flows southeast and northeast to Tarr Inlet, one mile (1.6 km) north of the terminus of Grand Pacific Glacier and 87 miles (140 km) northwest of Hoonah. It was named for famed French geographer and geologist Emmanuel de Margerie (1862–1953), who visited Glacier Bay in 1913.
