Mark Wright (born 20 January 1987) is an English reality television personality and radio presenter[2] best known for being one of the original main cast members in The Only Way Is Essex. On 23 October 2011, he announced that he would be leaving the show at the end of the third series. He made a cameo appearance in the sixth series and returned for the 2012 Christmas special.

After leaving TOWIE, Wright participated in the eleventh series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, finishing as the runner-up behind Dougie Poynter. Wright formerly presented the Take Me Out spin-off show Take Me Out: The Gossip alongside Zoe Hardman. He also starred in his own short-lived ITV2 reality show Mark Wright's Hollywood Nights, which followed him and his friends in the United States. Wright is a current reporter on the ITV series Surprise Surprise.

Family[edit]

Wright is the elder son of Carol Wright and Mark Wright, Sr. and the brother of Jessica Wright, Natalya Wright and Josh Wright, and the cousin of Leah Wright (who also starred in a few episodes of The Only Way Is Essex).

Career[edit]

Football[edit]

Before his appearances on The Only Way Is Essex, Wright was a semi-professional footballer, with a youth career at Tottenham Hotspur. In January 2012, he rekindled his semi-professional footballing career, by signing for St Neots Town.

Presenting[edit]

On 13 December 2011, it was announced that he would co-present Take Me Out spin-off programme Take Me Out: The Gossip for ITV2, which began on 8 January 2012 and ended in February 2013. This was Wright's first presenting role.[4]

On 21 December 2011, it was confirmed Wright would become a health expert for the ITV Breakfast programme Daybreak for a two week stint from 9 January 2012.[5]

In 2012, Wright presented and starred in a new ITV2 show titled Mark Wright's Hollywood Nights. The show ran from 10 June 2012 until 7 July 2012 and was later axed.[6] Wright was due to co-present a new entertainment series with Melanie Sykes named My Man Can. After filming a pilot and the entire first series, ITV made the decision not to air the show on television.[7]

In 2014, Mark has fronted his own ITV2 reality show entitled Party Wright Around the World. The first episode aired on 26 February 2014 and the show was later axed in April the same year.[8]

Wright is currently reporting on the ITV entertainment series Surprise Surprise.

Guest appearances[edit]

On 25 December 2011, he was a contestant on All Star Family Fortunes, alongside the cast of The Only Way Is Essex, they won £1,650 for their chosen charity The Haven House Children's Hospice.

On 29 December 2011, Mark took part in Paddy's Show and Telly alongside Crissy Rock. They came third place.

On 14 April 2012, Wright appeared in an episode of Keith Lemon's LemonAid on ITV.

On 30 June 2013, Mark was a contestant on the ITV game show The Cube, where he won £1,000 for his chosen charity The Haven House Children's Hospice.

He has appeared on Celebrity Juice on 1 September 2011, 13 and 20 December 2012, 14 March and 26 September 2013.

I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here![edit]

On 13 November 2011, he appeared on eleventh series of the ITV reality television show, I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!, and was runner up to McFly's Dougie Poynter in the public vote.[9][10]

Radio[edit]

On 24 December 2012, Wright joined Heart where he currently presents Club Classics every Friday and Saturday evenings.[11]

Littlewoods[edit]

Mark was signed by online retail giant, Littlewoods, as it's new face of menswear in June 2013. The deal sees Mark style and model a capsule collection each season for Littlewoods own-brand menswear line, Goodsouls. The range includes clothing, footwear, accessories and nightwear.[12]

Personal life[edit]

Wright was best man at the wedding of the late reality star Jade Goody on 22 February 2009 and featured briefly in the Sky Living TV series.

Wright has previously been in relationships with Kayla Collins and The Only Way Is Essex cast members Lauren Goodger, Sam Faiers and Lucy Mecklenburgh[13]

Since December 2012, Wright has been in a relationship with former Coronation Street actress Michelle Keegan.[14] It was confirmed on 9 September 2013 that the two were engaged.[15]
