Marlene Hagge (born February 16, 1934), also known as Marlene Bauer before her marriage, is an American professional golfer. She was one of the thirteen founders of the LPGA and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2002.
Hagge was born in Eureka, South Dakota. She took up golf at the age of three and won the Long Beach City Boys Junior title when she was 10. Three years later she won several adult amateur titles and became the youngest player to make the cut at the U.S. Women's Open, finishing eighth. In 1949, at the age of 15, she became the youngest athlete ever to be named Associated Press Athlete of the Year. She was the youngest of the thirteen women who founded the LPGA in 1950, and remains the youngest ever member of the LPGA Tour.
Hagge won 26 titles on the tour between 1952 and 1972. She was eighteen years and 14 days old when she won the Sarasota Open in 1952, and until Lexi Thompson won the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic, Hagge was the youngest tournament winner in LPGA Tour history. Hagge won just one major championship, the 1956 LPGA Championship. 1956 proved to be her career year, with a first place finish on the money list and a tour leading eight victories.
Hagge is now married to former PGA Tour golfer Ernie Vossler. They live in La Quinta, California.[1]
