Marrickville Tunnel

The Marrickville Tunnel is a possible underground road tunnel that would link Sydney Airport to an undetermined location on Parramatta Road. Two possibilities mentioned in the media have been a link to Lewisham, whilst others mention a possible connection to the end of the Metroad 4 motorway at Strathfield.
A tunnel may help to remove trucks transporting goods to and from the airport and Botany Bay from non-motorway roads, and could potentially reduce "rat-running" (whereby commuters opt to drive to and from work using suburban back-roads instead of main roads, because the main roads are too overcrowded and slow at peak hour).
