Mateusz Klich ([maˈtɛuʂ ˈklix]; born June 13, 1990 in Tarnów) is a Polish footballer who plays as a midfielder for VfL Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga.

Club career[edit]

Cracovia[edit]

Klich debuted in the Ekstraklasa in November 2008. During the 2009-10 season, he gradually became a regular in Cracovia's starting eleven.

VfL Wolfsburg[edit]

On 14 June 2011 he signed with VfL Wolfsburg on a 3-years deal. Wolfsburg paid €1.5 million for Klich, making him the most valuable player in Cracovia's club history.[1]

PEC Zwolle[edit]

After joining PEC Zwolle on loan from VfL Wolfsburg for half a season, he was permanently transferred for a free reportedly €200,000.[2]On 26 June 2013, he signed a two-year contract with the Dutch side.[3]Wolfsburg however secured themselves a repurchase option.[4]

VfL Wolfsburg[edit]

In June 2014 it became known that Wolfsburg had executed the repurchase option for Klich. The transfer fee amounts allegedly €750,000. Wolfsburgs head coach Dieter Hecking stated that Klich had made progress at Zwolle and sees him as option for an offensive role in defensive midfield.[5]

International career[edit]

Klich made his debut for the national team of Poland on 5 June 2011 in a friendly match against Argentina. Poland won 2-1.[6] He scored his first goal in national t-shirt in the friendly game against Denmark on 14 August 2013.
