Founded over 160 years ago, McCarter & English LLP is among the oldest and largest law firms in the United States and is the oldest and largest law firm based in the State of New Jersey.

The firm has over 400 lawyers in seven offices in the Northeastern United States. Its main office is in Newark, where it occupies the top floors of Gateway 4 in the Gatway Center office complex in Downtown Newark. The firm also has offices in Boston, Hartford, Stamford, New York City, Philadelphia, and Wilmington.
