Melih Abdulhayoğlu (born 10 March 1968) is a technologist and an entrepreneur. As an inventor, he holds several patents.[3] He has written articles on Internet security. In 1998, he founded Comodo, a privately held international company that produces computer security products including SSL certificates.
In 2005 Melih saw the need to bring the industry together and arranged the first meeting of CAB forum (what is now called CA/Browser Forum[4][5]), an industry consortium designed to establish end-to-end authentication and security business processes. In 2009 he organized the Common Computing Security Standards Forum,[6] which maintains a list of legitimate antivirus engines.

Melih Abdulhayoğlu was born in Turkey, where he studied at Hatay high-school.[2] At the age of 18, he moved to the United Kingdom, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from the University of Bradford in 1991.[7]

Melih is President and CEO of Comodo Group which specializes in SSL digital certificates and Internet security, creating a platform for authenticated and secure computing.

His interests are in Internet safety and privacy. At Comodo, he is responsible for the architecture and implementation of products, services and infrastructure for authentication and secure digital interactions.

His initiating the CA/Browser Forum helped establish new standards for Extended Validation Certificate[8] and now all the major browsers such as Internet Explorer, Firefox and Opera have this new technology built in.

He organized the Common Computing Security Standards Forum, which maintains a list of legitimate antivirus engines.

Melih said to the Government Technology Magazine that the world needs technologies that protect computer networks from criminals and viruses.[9]

Melih founded Comodo in the United Kingdom in 2001 and relocated the company to the United States in 2004.

His vision is to create the “Trusted Internet,” enabling Internet users to trust one another through encryption and authentication.

Under his direction, Comodo’s innovation and designs in layered security and promoting what he refers to as 'Social Authentication and Social Protection'[10] have been recognized in ComputerWorld[11] and PC Magazine.[12] Also, his recent recommendations were published on USA today [13] and BNET Technology - Industry news and insights.[14]

In 2008, Ernst & Young gave Abdulhayoğlu their Entrepreneur of the Year Award for Information Technology/Software for New Jersey. In 2011, he was named "Entrepreneur of the Year" by Info Security Products Guide [15].

Melih appears on television and radio, discussing the importance of online security and the Extended Validation Certificate.
