Mesoregion (Brazil)

Mesoregions (Portuguese: Mesorregião) are subdivisions of Brazilian states, grouping together various municipalities in proximity and with common characteristics. They were created by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics for statistical purposes and do not, therefore, constitute an administrative area.
