"Metal Dog" is the opening instrumental to Paul Gilbert's Instructional video called "Terrifying Guitar trip". It showcases his proficiency in nailing his improvisational technique. Here, one might observe that he had incorporated most of his signature 'speed metal' licks, particularly on the guitar solo part. The song is very aggressive in tone and suggested a heavy metal feel.
Another version of "Metal Dog" was released later under the name "Technical Difficulties" featuring the same introduction and different solo part.
