The Metropolitan Community Church in East London is based in London, England, and is part of the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches. It was formed by a group of worshippers from Metropolitan Community Church of North London who wished to have a church presence in the East end of the City.
Originally Pastored by Rev Andy Braunston, the church was led by Rev Jane Clarke from 1995 to 2007. In 2009 Rev Carmen Margarita Sánchez De León was appointed pastor.
The Church sees itself as being:
- a Christ-centred church of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered communities inviting all people to share in an adventure of spirituality and faith.
After meeting for many years in Mile End, the Church relocated in 2009 to Positive East at 159 Mile End Road, London, E1 4AQ (51°31′19″N 0°2′51″W / 51.52194°N 0.0475°WCoordinates: 51°31′19″N 0°2′51″W / 51.52194°N 0.0475°W)and meets for worship every Sunday at 5.30pm.
