The Metrotranvía of Mendoza (Mendoza Metropolitan-Area Tramway, or Mendoza Light Rail) will be a public light rail transport system for the city of Mendoza, Argentina, served by articulated light rail cars operating on newly relaid tracks in former-Ferrocarril General San Martín mainline right-of-way. The 12.5-km line will run between Mendoza Central Station and General Gutierrez in Maipú, in double-track 1435 mm standard gauge track. Construction began in March 2009,[1] and the system is due to open sometime in 2012.[2]
