The Southern Illinois Monarchs are a franchise of the American Basketball Association based in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Monarchs previously were known as Michiana Monarchs, based in South Bend, Indiana. The team currently plays its home games at Rend Lake College in Ina, Illinois.

History[edit]

The Michiana Monarchs began play in the 2010-11 season. Based in South Bend, Indiana, the Monarchs played in various locations in Michiana, most notably The Training Center in Granger, Indiana and Ross Beatty Junior/Senior High School in Cassopolis, Michigan.

In May 2013[1] the Monarchs moved from South Bend to the Mount Vernon, Illinois area and changed their name to the King City Monarchs. After the 2013-14 ABA season the team is known as the Southern Illinois Monarchs.
