Microsoft Office Forms Server 2007 converts InfoPath client forms into HTML/AJAX forms that can be accessed and filled out using any browser, including mobile phone browsers. Forms Server 2007 supports using a database or other data source as the back-end for the form. Additionally, it allows centralized deployment and management of forms. Finally, it supports advanced controls like repeating section and repeating table. Forms Server 2007 hosted forms support data validation and conditional formatting, as does their InfoPath counterpart. However, some InfoPath controls cannot be used if the forms are to be hosted on a Forms Server. Forms Server 2007 requires Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 and the .NET Framework version 2.0.
Forms Server is no longer available as an independent product. The features that this product offered are rolled into InfoPath Forms Services.
