Michael David "Mike" Jones (born 15 August 1987 in Birkenhead, Merseyside) is an English professional footballer currently playing as a right or centre midfielder currently playing for Sheffield Wednesday.
Jones came through the youth ranks with Tranmere Rovers making his first team debut on 6 May 2006 against Doncaster Rovers.
He joined Shrewsbury Town on loan in January 2007[1] and scored on his debut for the club on 14 January 2007 after coming on as a substitute in a match against Lincoln.[2] He returned to Tranmere at the end of the season and signed a one year contract with the club in July 2007.[3]
After being released by Tranmere in May 2008,[4] Jones was signed by Bury on a one year contract on 30 July.[5] He signed a two year contract extension in January 2009.[6] On 12 January 2012 it was announced that Jones had joined Sheffield Wednesday for an undisclosed fee reported to be £100,000, signing a two-and-a-half year contract with the Owls.[7][8]
