Millennium Council

The Millennium Council is a minor British political party set up by Roger Macnair to campaign for direct democracy. Macnair was the party's only parliamentary candidate in the 2005 UK general election, he stood in his hometown constituency of BasingstokeThis Roger MacNair allegedly has no connection with the Roger MacNair of Harrow .

After paying his deposit to stand, Macnair had no money for the campaign and so spent ten days and nights in the town bandstand located in Basingstoke War Memorial Park. He polled 148 votes and lost his deposit. According to the parties accounts filed with the Electoral Commission the party had no income or expenditure for the year ending 2004. [1]
