Minecraft: The Story of Mojang is a 2012 documentary that documents the history of the company Mojang and its creation, Minecraft. Minecraft is game where players can craft, build and mine. Players can also go on adventures and download mini-games to play. The film uses interviews from key personnel of the company including Markus Persson (a.k.a. "Notch") and Jens Bergensten (a.k.a. "Jeb").[1] The film is produced by 2 Player Productions and production was funded through a Kickstarter campaign.[1][2][3]

The film was premiered first on Xbox Live on December 22, 2012, and made available for download and streaming the following day.[2] 2 Player Productions also uploaded the documentary to torrent index The Pirate Bay but urged people to consider purchasing the film.[4]

The Yogscast and Peter Molyneux make an appearance in this documentary.

Content

The documentary follows Minecraft developer Mojang through the development process of the game.[1] The film also features insights from many people in the video gaming industry to discuss Minecraft's popularity influence.[1] Interviews from Persson and other Mojang employees give an insight on creation and expansion of the studio.[1]

Soundtrack

The film's soundtrack was created by C418, who has also created most of the music and sounds for the game itself. The music featured is from C418's 'one' album which contains 31 tracks. The CD features remixes by crashfaster, Danimal Cannon, Bud Melvin and minusbaby.[5]
