Ministry of Children and Youth Services (Ontario)

The Ministry of Children and Youth Services is responsible for services to children and youth in the Canadian province of Ontario. They recently introduced (June 2005) Bill 210 -- an Act to amend the Child and Family Services Act -- which will open adoptions to members of the childs extended families. It also seeks to amend the complaints procedure of Children's Aid Societies throughout the province.
The current Minister of Children and Youth Services in the Executive Council of Ontario (or provincial cabinet) is the Honourable Laurel Broten. Broten was appointed on October 7, 2009 following the resignation of David Caplan as Minister of Health and Long-Term Care and Deb Matthews' appointment as his successor.
