Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (Tanzania)

The Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MoEVT) is a government body responsible for providing education in Tanzania. Along with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, it works to educate every Tanzanian.

Head offices are located in Dar es Salaam; the sitting Minister for Education and Vocational Training is the Hon. Prof. Jumanne A. Maghembe.[1]

The Vocational Education and Training Authority (VETA) is a Tanzanian government authority responsible for managing the government's involvement and support of vocational training.[2]

[edit] Tanzania Institute of Education

The Tanzania Institute of Education (TIE) is a parastatal organization of the government of Tanzania. It is "charged with the responsibility of ensuring the quality of education in Tanzania at the pre-school, primary, secondary and teacher training levels." It was founded in 1963 under the auspices of the University College of Dar es Salaam, and when the University became autonomous from the University of East Africa, TIE became more important to national education and its curriculum, and in 1975 TIE was legally disengaged from the University and became a state corporation.
