The Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of Ecuador is the ministry responsible for national defense and is responsible for controlling all three branches of the Military of Ecuador.

Besides controls and manages the various barracks, military zones and monuments homelands where battles have been important throughout the country. The headquarters of the Ministry is in the city of Quito.

Is the backbone of the state, responsible for ensuring the governability of the nation, peace and public security, the maintenance of democracy and full respect to the Constitution and Human Rights.

The ministry is part of the Secretary General of the National Security Council (Cosine). has contributed to the space program through the FAE for the opportunities of the program in civil security, national and military intelligence, including espionage, and possible development of weapons technology to aerospace.
