Moi Renee (sometimes spelled Moi Rene, birth name not publicly disclosed) was a drag performer and singer from New York City who gained an underground cult following in the early 1990s. She was a performance fixture at The Shelter, a now defunct African-American oriented dance club located at #6 Hubert Street. 1

Renee, whose performances were high camp, released one single (on 12" vinyl only) entitled "Miss Honey". The song is typical of early 1990s dance music, and features Renee's spoken-word vocal wherein the title subject is called out as a "bitch". The song received considerable play in gay clubs in 1992. It was released on Project X Records.

Renee was found dead in a hotel room in 1997. There was a lengthy investigation into a potential murder, but ultimately the death was ruled a suicide.

In 2008 a clip of Renee performing "Miss Honey" live on The Sybil Bruncheon show was posted to YouTube, revitalizing interest in the song. The clip has received over 206,000 views. 2
