Monesa

Monesa is a bash shell script for monitoring network equipment. It uses the ICMP protocol, as initial developer to Linux and same running on the system compliance with POSIX. First release is 2002 year, by Elias de Souza Andrade and became better from the contribution of other developers, including Cláudio Rafael da Silva, of which it carried it for the Sun/Solaris and it added many functionalities to this.

  • "Mon" is from "Monitoração" (Monitoration, in Brazilian Portuguese, and "esa" they are the initials of the name of the author of the project. The symbol of the spider mentions the 3 operational systems to it that had twirled script (Linux, FreeBSD, and Sun Solaris).
  • Monesa also is a feminine name.
