[edit] Expansion
To accommodate the growing number of students in the area, the Fulton County School System began construction on a new two-floor wing addition with classrooms to Mountain Park.[3] The expansion along with expansions at other North Fulton County schools is to keep from redistricting for new schools, specifically because of Birmingham Highway Elementary School.[4] The expansion is expected to be finished in August 2009 and will be open for the 2009-2010 school year.[dated info] In addition to the classroom expansion a new parking lot was added to the western corner of the campus to replace a parking lot where the expansion now sits.
