Museum of African American Music

The Museum of African American Music is a Smithsonian-affiliated museum being built in Newark, New Jersey.[1] The museum is the center of a larger project to revitilize The Coast/Lincoln Park district in Newark. The museum will feature various genres of African-American music, including gospel, blues, jazz, rhythm and blues, rock and roll and hip-hop. In addition to galleries displaying audio-visual histories of the music, there will be seminars, concerts and other events scheduled at the museum, once it opens.
