Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Pasha
Fazıl Mustafa Köprülü, Ghazi Fazıl Mustafa Köprülü (in Albanian: Fazil Mustafa Kypriljoti) (1637 – August 19, 1691) was an Ottoman grand vizier in the 17th century when the Ottoman Empire was engaged in a war against Holy Alliance countries in the Great Turkish War.[1] He was a member of the Köprülü family of Albanian origin. His father Köprülü Mehmet Pasha, his elder brother Fazıl Ahmet Pasha, as well as his two brothers-in-law (Kara Mustafa Pasha and Abaza Siyavuş Pasha) were fornmer grand viziers.
Hardly able to take control of events himself after the Austrian victory at The second Battle of Mohács, Sultan Suleiman II nevertheless made crucial choice by appointing Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Pasha as his Grand Vizier. But when Russia began it involvement and formally joined an alliance of European powers it launched the devastating Crimean campaigns. Under Köprülü's leadership the Ottomans halted an Austrian advance into Serbia and crushed an uprising in Bulgaria. Until Köprülü Fazıl Mustafa Pasha was killed in the Battle of Slankamen by Austrian forces.
