The school is located on a 20,000 m² site in northern Jakarta. Its facilities are a swimming pool, gymnasium, futsal, playground, computer lab, theater, library, classrooms for each grade level, and a clinic for medical purposes. There are over 250 enrolled students, representing 25 different nationalities and spanning the ages of 5 to 15 years.

[edit] History

NJIS was established in January 1990, and later licensed by the Ministry of Education to provide schooling for the children of expatriates residing in Jakarta. It is classified as a Yayasan (not-for-profit social foundation) and operates as an independent, not-for-profit, co-educational day school for pre-kindergarten through Grade 10. A six-person Board of Governors oversees it. NJIS is a member of both the East Asia Regional Council of Overseas Schools (EARCOS), based in the Philippines, and the European Council of International Schools (ECIS), based in the UK. NJIS is fully accredited by ECIS. Most NJIS programs are associated with its doctrine called the 3Cs: caring, communication, and curriculum.
