NJStar Communicator was a very popular Traditional Chinese Microsoft Windows add-on for Windows 95 and Windows 98 that supports Chinese, Japanese and Korean input and web pages viewing in the same windows before Windows provided those functions. Other software having similar functions included RichWin (四通利方), TwinBridge (雙橋), Chinese Star (中文之星), UCWin (希望), MagicWin, UnionWay (加盟), HansVision (漢神), LAT (两岸通网上中文平台), and Oriental Express (东方快车).[1][2][3][4][5]

Microsoft later provided language support in updates for their Internet Explorer. Netscape also provided support multi-language web page viewing. In Windows XP there is better multi-language support. NJStar and other similar software are now less used.

Nonetheless, the user base cultivated during previous years continue to appreciate the easy, simple to use interface that allows a proficient user to enter text with speed and efficiency. NJStar has continued to not only support but improve Communicator by releasing a major upgrade in the form of version 3.0 On May 30th, 2011. Supporting all current major web browsers, use under OSX or Linux is even possible when the Chromate plugin is used with Google Chrome.
